How a UPI QR code works
A UPI QR code contains a standard upi://pay payment link with your UPI ID, name and optional amount. When a customer scans it with any UPI app, the app opens with your details already filled in. They confirm the amount, enter their UPI PIN, and the money moves directly from their bank to yours. QwikQR never touches the payment — we only create the QR image, in your browser.
Who uses a UPI QR code?
- Small shops, kirana stores and street vendors
- Freelancers, tutors and home bakers
- Doctors, salons and service providers
- Event organisers collecting registration fees
- Anyone splitting bills or collecting money for a group
Important safety tips
- Double-check your UPI ID before printing. A single wrong character sends money to someone else.
- Test with ₹1 from a different phone and confirm it arrives in your bank account.
- Protect printed codes. Fraudsters sometimes paste their own QR stickers over shop QR codes — check yours regularly.
- Remember: you never need to scan a QR code to receive money. If someone asks you to scan a code to “get” a payment, it's a scam.
- For high-volume business payments, consider a merchant QR from your bank or payment provider, which adds payment confirmations and settlement reports.
