How WiFi QR codes work
A WiFi QR code stores your network name, password and security type in a standard format that phone cameras understand. On iPhone (iOS 11 and later) and most Android phones (Android 10 and later), scanning it shows a “Join network” prompt — one tap and the guest is connected. On older phones, a QR scanner app does the same job.
Is it safe?
QwikQR builds your WiFi QR code entirely in your browser. Your password is never uploaded or stored. Keep in mind that anyone who can see the printed code can join your network, so:
- Use a separate guest network for visitors, cafés and rentals.
- Don't display the code where strangers can photograph it if it's your main network.
- If you change your WiFi password, generate and print a new QR code.
