Why add a logo to your QR code?
A plain black-and-white square tells people nothing. A QR code with your logo and brand colours looks intentional, builds trust, and tells people what they'll get before they scan — which usually means more scans.
How QR codes still work with a logo on top
QR codes contain built-in error correction: extra data that lets a scanner rebuild the parts it can't read. At the Max level, up to about 30% of the code can be covered or damaged and it will still scan. That's what lets a logo sit in the middle. For codes with logos we recommend High or Max.
Best practices for logo QR codes
- Keep contrast high. Dark foreground on a light background scans best. Avoid light-on-dark and low-contrast colour pairs.
- Use a simple, square logo. A bold icon reads better at small sizes than a long wordmark.
- Leave a quiet zone. Keep a margin of empty space around the code when you place it on a design.
- Keep the content short. Shorter links make a less dense code, leaving more room for your logo.
- Test before printing. Check with both iPhone and Android, in normal indoor light.
