How to get the right Google Form link

Open your form and click Send in the top-right corner. Choose the link tab, tick Shorten URL, and copy the link that starts with forms.gle. The short link makes a simpler QR code that scans faster. Don't copy the address from your browser while editing the form — that's the editor link, and respondents can't use it.

Before printing, check the form's Settings → Responses. If “Restrict to users in your organisation” is on, people outside your school or company won't be able to open it. If “Collect email addresses” or “Limit to 1 response” is on, respondents will need to sign in to Google.

Popular uses

  • Event and workshop registrations on posters and social media.
  • Customer feedback at shop counters and restaurant tables.
  • Classroom quizzes and exit tickets shown on the projector.
  • Attendance for classes, trainings and meetings — see our attendance QR code guide.
  • Volunteer and job sign-ups on notice boards.

Good to know

The QR code always opens the same form, so you can edit questions after printing — the link doesn't change. Only creating a brand-new form changes the link.

Common Questions

Can I edit my Google Form after making the QR code?

expand_more

Yes. Editing questions doesn't change the form's link, so your printed QR code keeps working.

Why do people see “You need permission”?

expand_more

Your form is probably restricted to your organisation. Turn off “Restrict to users in [your organisation]” in the form's settings.

Should I use the long or short link?

expand_more

The short forms.gle link. It creates a simpler QR code that scans more reliably, especially on small prints or screens.

Can I use this for attendance?

expand_more

Yes. Many schools and trainers display a form QR code for attendance. Add a question for name or roll number, and turn on “Limit to 1 response” if needed.

Is it free?

expand_more

Yes. It's free to create and download, with no watermark and no sign-up.
