What can a link QR code open?
Anything with a web address: your website or online shop, a single product page, a Google Form, a Google Drive or Dropbox file, a YouTube video, a booking page, a payment page or a social profile. When someone scans the code, their phone shows the link and opens it in the browser or the right app.
Tips for link QR codes
- Use the shortest link you can. Shorter links make a simpler, less dense QR code that scans faster and prints smaller.
- Remove tracking clutter you don't need, but keep UTM tags if you want to see QR traffic separately in Google Analytics (for example
?utm_source=qr&utm_medium=print). - Make sure the page works on mobile. Nearly everyone who scans will be on a phone.
- Keep the link alive. A static QR code always opens the same address. If the page moves, set up a redirect or the printed code will break.
Need to change the link later?
A free QR code from this page is static — the link is stored inside the code. If you expect the destination to change, register for free to create dynamic QR codes you can edit without reprinting. Read more in our guide to static vs dynamic QR codes.
