Method 1: one QR code for everyone (Google Form)
The quickest setup. Everyone scans the same code and fills in a short form. Responses are timestamped and collected in a Google Sheet. It's ideal for trainings, workshops, seminars, meetings and college lectures.
Prevent proxy attendance: a shared code can be photographed and sent to someone who isn't there. To reduce this, turn on “Collect email addresses” and “Limit to 1 response” (which requires a Google sign-in), show the code only for the first few minutes, or change the form each session.
Method 2: a QR code for each person (ID cards)
Give every student or employee a QR code containing their ID number. A teacher, guard or front-desk person scans it with a QR scanner app that logs scans to a sheet. Create hundreds of ID QR codes at once with our bulk QR code generator: upload a spreadsheet of names and IDs, and download a ZIP of codes or a printable PDF sheet with each name under its code.
Which method should you use?
- Google Form QR — no setup cost, great for events and classes where people have phones.
- Personal QR ID cards — better for schools with younger students, factories and offices, where people may not carry phones.
